THE CITY police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of a youth whose body was found in Bilkhiria on January 2. He was killed by youths of the same village over a suspicion that he had stolen their ‘ganja’, police said on Saturday.
The body of Ashok alias Chhota was recovered from under the stones. The deceased’s throat had been slit. During investigations the police found that Ashok was last seen with Nathu alias ‘Baba’, a native of Maheshwar, who, had been staying near the banyan tree of the village for the last few months as ‘hermit’.
At the bus stand, local youths had seen Nathu take away Ashok. The youths of the village who were addicted to the drug used to go to Nathu who always let them have some ‘ganja’. He also sold small sachets of ‘ganja’.
During interrogation police found the involvement of Deepak Meena, Banwari Pal, Jaideep Jain and Bablu in the murder. All of them frequently visited Nathu. They told police that on December 28 when they went to Nathu’s hut, Ashok was already smoking.
Nathu told them that Ashok had stolen their ganja. He also told the youths that he would give them money and also more ‘ganja’, if they killed Ashok. The four youths overpowered Ashok and beat him up. They took a knife from Nathu and Deepak Meena stabbed Ashok repeatedly. Later, they took the body away and hid it in a hole, which they covered with stones.
Nathu brought ganja from Piparia, said Station Officer (SO) S N Singh. The police have begun investigating his network. All the five accused have been arrested. The knife was thrown by them in the forest and is yet to be recovered. Some ganja and cash has been recovered from Nathu.
