Birender, Brar suspended from Congress

The Congress on Thursday suspended Rajya Sabha MP Chaudhary Birender Singh and another senior leader Jagmeet Singh Brar from the party for indiscipline.

In a statement, Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said the central disciplinary committee had found the two guilty of deliberately acting in a way calculated to lower the prestige of the party.

While Birender is set to join the BJP, Brar has kept his future plans under wraps. “It is the worst authoritarian and dictatorial decision generally seen in Pakistan,” he later said.
