The two times MLA from Bishnah constituency of the Jammu State Morcha (JSM), Ashwani Sharma, on Saturday joined the BJP at a public gathering at Bishnah. He was welcomed into the party fold by BJP state president and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Jammu and Kashmir state incharge Avinash Rai Khanna and other senior leaders.

Jugal Kishore Sharma, while welcoming Ashwani Sharma into the party fold, stated that with his joining the BJP, a strong and a clear message will go to all the patriotic segments of the state reaffirming BJP's commitment to justice to all and discrimination to none. The political path chosen by Ashwani Sharma by being in the JSM was on account of his desire to see that the discrimination with Jammu is brought to an end.

Khanna said that the party's vision document of Mission 44+ inspired by the Modi wave is an achievable goal. Demolishing the castles built in air by the Congress and its coalition partners for having another go at the governance of the country, the Modi wave has ushered in a period of stability, prudent governance and governance with integrity, he outlined.

Ashwani Sharma said that the development plank initiated by Narendra Modi has received overwhelming response from the masses and the people in Jammu and Kashmir, too, want this development to be on top agenda. He said that the BJP stands for good governance, eradication of poverty and corruption and development. It is the main reason which has inspired me to be part of this party and the people of my constituency also wanted the same, said Sharma. He had left the Congress to join the JSM in 2002.
