A woman BJP activist on Friday alleged that she was abducted and tortured for three days by unidentified persons in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

35-year-old Haleema Bano, a resident of Uri town in Baramulla district, was admitted to SMHS hospital this morning with seven per cent burns, official sources said.

A senior police officer said investigations were on into the claims of Bano, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2008 assembly elections from Uri constituency on a BJP ticket.

He said that there were many discrepancies in her statements so far.

Haleema, who had burn injuries on her arm and back, told the police that she was abducted from Shiekhpura area of Budgam district on January 24.

The woman alleged that she was tortured by her abductors and let off on Friday at Soibugh in the same district.
