BJP favours quota for all poor: Rajnath Singh

Rajnath Singh said that the BJP would never allow religion or creed to form the basis of reservation, as the party favoured reservation for all weaker sections, irrespective of caste or creed.

Former UP chief minister and national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Rajnath Singh said that the BJP would never allow religion or creed to form the basis of reservation, as the party favoured reservation for all weaker sections, irrespective of caste or creed.

Ridiculing Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati for trading corruption charges, the BJP chief said both would be behind bars when the CBI filed its charge sheet in their corruption cases. In a scathing attack on the SP government, he said chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had no right to stay in power if he failed to provide power, security and other basic amenities to the people. Singh appealed to the people to vote for the BJP, which alone could provide clean, corruption-free and people-friendly governance in the state.

Addressing electoral rallies in Nighasan, Lakhimpur and Gola in support of BJP candidates Ajay Mishra (Nighasan), Kalpana Verma (Lakhimpur), Sharad Bajpai (Srinagar), Krishna Raj (Mohammadi), Balbir Singh (Hyderabad ) and Ram Saran from Paila constituencies, Rajnath targeted all the opposition parties.

He accused chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav of backtracking from his promise to provide round the clock power supply to the people within two years after coming to power and failing to check the rising crime graph in the State.

He said the BJP alone had the calibre to run a successful people-friendly government.

As for the BSP, Singh said the party which sold its tickets to party legislatures could never claim to curb corruption.

He said the BSP supremo, who earlier talked of only ‘bahujan’, was now harping on ‘sarva jan’ merely to serve her political aspirations.

He was even more aggressive towards the Congress, which he said was restricted only to the Gandhi family. Singh said the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government had failed to bring down inflation, which the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government kept under control for six years.

He also demanded inquiry into the recent ‘pulse scam’ by a sitting judge of SC instead of the CBI probe.

Ajit flays SP

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) National President Chaudhary Ajit Singh accused the Samajwadi Party (SP), BJP and the BSP of promoting casteism in politics. He appealed to the people to vote for the RLD candidates to protect the interests of the farmers and the common people.

Addressing an electoral rally in Mahewa Ganj town in Srinagar constituency in support of his party candidate Ravindra Pal Verma, the RLD chief targeted the SP government in particular. He said during the SP regime, the lands of the farmers were sold out to Ambanis at throw away prices.

He said the SP government badly failed to promote the interest of the common people while the criminals ruled the roost. He flayed Amitabh Bachhan for campaigning for the SP describing UP as a crimeless state.
