BJP on Wednesday asked the UPA government to enact a POTA type law to put in place a strong legal regime to deal with terrorism following the serial bomb blasts at Jaipur.
"The Central government must immediately enact such a law and give assent to the laws against organised crime framed in Rajasthan and Gujarat," BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said, condemning the blasts.
Talking to reporters, he said BJP demands early and effective investigation into the anti-national act. He called for a national debate on the need to have a professional and nationalist approach in dealing with terrorism, as opposed to "a weak policy linked to promoting vote bank politics".
Jaitley accused the government of deliberately delaying the execution of Afzal Guru in the Parliament attack case, and said it is displaying a 'weak-kneed policy' and one that is linked to vote bank politics.
He also wanted the government to take steps to check infiltration from Bangladesh in the backdrop of HuJI, a Bangladesh-based group masterminding recent terror attacks in the country.
