“Legal appointments were given to 22 persons of the weaker sections of the society during my regime as the chairman of the Solan municipal council in 1999, but the present Congress government in a political vendetta filled a chargesheet against me with 25 others. The present Congress government denied grant of prosecution to 3,092 appointments on chits during its previous regime,” said BJP leader and MLA Dr Rajeev Bindal.
He added that it showed the double standards of the Congress government. He said two committees headed by two senior bureaucrats, who were assigned the probe into the recruitments into various government bodies from December 1993 to February 1998, had pointed out irregularities in recruitments in their reports.
Dr Bindal alleged that the price of sugar has been hiked by Rs 6 per kg under the PDS system. He added that the Congress government approved tender at Rs 35.5 per kg against which the state is getting the subsidy of Rs 17 per kg. He said sugar was being sold at Rs 13 per kg. Therefore, to fill the gap of less subsidy, the state has hiked the price.
Reacting upon the linkage scheme for LPG consumers, he said the price of cylinders has been hiked between Rs 130 and Rs 150. Earlier, the consumers used to get cylinder at Rs 437, but now they were paying Rs 1,110 against which the subsidy of Rs 435 is being reimbursed, which means that 12 lakh consumers of the state were being duped.
