Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh today said his party would prefer to sit in the Opposition if it did not secure an absolute majority in the Uttar Pradesh assembly election.
The BJP would not forge an alliance with any party for government-formation in the state in the event of it failing to obtain a majority, he told PTI in Ghaziabad.
"We will be accused of not honouring the verdict of the people if we will go with the BSP, the SP or any other party for government-formation in UP," the former BJP chief said.
He, however, said the BJP would get a majority on its own in the election.
On the possibility of President's rule in the state, he said the idea was the creation of the Congress.
"If such a thing happens, voters will not pardon the Congress for it," the former UP chief minister said.
