BJP poll campaign to intensify in final days
The crucial last six days of campaigning would see intense activity from BJP to woo the 45 lakh voters of the hill state for the November 4 election, Pawan Sharma reports.
From back-to-back rallies by its star campaigners to street plays, “Mission Repeat” is the mantra for the ruling BJP’s spin masters.
The crucial last six days of campaigning would see intense activity to woo the 45 lakh voters of the hill state for the November 4 election.
“Minimum 65 rallies will be held covering each part of the state in the last six days,” said Praveen Sharma, who heads the BJP’s election management committee.
The frontline BJP leadership will resort to “carpet bombing” in these six days of electioneering to create “shock and awe” in the enemy (mainly Congress) camp.
The final assault will be led by BJP patriarch Lal Krishna Advani, who will hold public meetings on November 1. Others assisting him include Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Narendra Modi.
Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal are slated to inject fire in bordering Una and Sirmour that have a sizeable Sikh population.
Unleashing soft power are 15 teams of 78 artistes covering 65 constituencies to spread the development agenda of the Prem Kumar Dhumal government through street plays.
“Our teams give 30-minute performances, highlighting the BJP government’s achievements and taking digs at the Congress,” says Durjay Kuwar of Maghai Kala Manch.
