Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha member of Parliament (MP) and in-charge Jammu and Kashmir Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna has refuted the claim of the government of equal benefit to the people of the state as given to citizens of rest of the country.
Giving details about question posed by him in the Rajya Sabha on September 2013 regarding the benefits that had flown to the people of Jammu and Kashmir from Article 370 of the Constitution, the reply inter-alia claimed that the said article has ensured extension of all those rights that were available to the citizens of India to the people of the state as well.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said that refugees from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan, who settled in the state, were till date being treated as inferior class. All the socially beneficial reservations and other measures meant for upliftment of SCs, STs and OBCs, that have been adopted in rest of the country, do not get automatically extended to the state.
For every such facility, the SCs, STs and OBCs in the state have to struggle hard to move the Valley centric state administration.
Khanna said that it would be state government's endeavour to see that people's rights in the state are brought at par with the rights of the people of the rest of the country.
