The BJP on Tuesday night came out with its first list of candidates for Haryana, where assembly polls are expected to be announced this week.
Out of 43 candidates in the first list, seven are women. Among them are turncoat Congress veteran Chaudhary Virendra Singh's wife Premlata Singh from Uchana Kalan and former Haryana minister Krishna Gahalawat from Rai.
This is a rare occasion where the party has announced almost half of its candidate even before the election commission issues a formal notification for the assembly election. The name of candidate were cleared by the newly constituted central election committee of the party. This was the first meeting of the election panel, which also for the first time has met without veterans like LK Advani and Murli Manhar Joshi as members.
BJP legislature party leader Anil Viz (Ambala Cantt), state president Ramvilash Sharma (Mahendragarh) and former national spokesman Captain Abhimanyu (Narnaund) have got tickets for assembly polls. Kisna Morcha chief Om Prakash Dhankar (Badli) and Umesh Aggarwal (Gurgaon) are other prominent candidates.
