BJP releases manifesto for Madhya Pradesh assembly polls

Madhya Pradesh BJP on Sunday announced to make the country's first water policy for the public water sources and loans to farmers at three per cent interest rate while releasing the party's much-awaited manifesto for the November 27 Assembly polls in Bhopal.

The manifesto for the assembly polls 2008 was released by former BJP President Vankaiah Naidu in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the state party president Narendra Singh Tomar among others in a press meet.

Highlighting the salient features of the manifesto, Chouhan said that the party has promised to frame the country's first "Jal Neeti" (Water Policy) by constituting an Authority for conserving and protecting water.

The policy will also be focussed on public water sources in view of the deepening water crisis in the state besides identifying and regenerating old water bodies.

On the agriculture front the party has promised to provide loans to farmers at three per cent interest rate against the present five and also said that farmers coming to "mandis" for selling their produce will get food at Rs five per person.

The party has also promised to turn Madhya Pradesh as the first Bio-Agriculture in the country.

BJP which came to power in the state in the year 2003 on the issues of power, roads and water popularly known as the BSP (Bijli, Sadak and Pani) factor has prmoised to provide 24 hours electricity in rural as well as urban areas by generating more power and make Madhya Pradesh self-dependent on the power front.
