Nine ministers in Karnataka — owing allegiance to disgruntled former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa — withdrew their resignations after BJP leader Arun Jaitley intervened to assure the rebels that the party would resolve the crisis in the state.

Jaitley spoke to Yeddyurappa and told him that the central leadership would look into his demands and a formula would be worked out to smoothen the functioning of the state government.

In Gujarat, three RSS pracharaks supporting former CM Keshubhai Patel's revolt against current CM Narendra Modi, have been removed from the state executive, citing health grounds.

Compounding Modi's unease, a local court ordered a probe against minister Dilip Sanghani, who has been accused of being involved in land grabbing.
