The Opposition BJP on Monday termed as "two slaps" on the Government's face the Supreme Court taking strong exception to the controversial law declaring a year's moratorium on the sealing and demolition drive in the capital and its directive asking Government to release the salary of medicos who participated in the anti-quota stir.
"The Urban Development Minister must resign for befooling the public through the legislation which has been described by the court as wholly invalid and void. We had warned the Government that there was no option other than amnesty as recommended by the Committee, headed by me," BJP Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha V K Malhotra said.
He said the Centre would be squarely responsible for the demolition of lakhs of shops and residential dwellings in the coming days in the wake of the court's observations.
On the AIIMS issue, Malhotra, who is a member of the Institute body, welcomed the apex court's direction to release the salary of the doctors and said this was the assurance given by the Prime Minister.
