BJP on Tuesday decided to further corner the government on the TR Baalu controversy and to revive the issue of tainted ministers in the run up to a series of assembly elections.
In a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary party held in New Delhi, the party's prime ministerial candidate LK Advani addressed the lawmakers on the issue.
"It is a government of tainted ministers. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh needs to come clear on the issue and DMK Minister TR Baalu should resign," party leader VK Malhotra told reporters quoting Advani.
The tainted minister issue was infact one of the first to be taken up by the BJP-led NDA after the UPA came to power in the Centre in 2004.
Union Shipping and Transport Minister TR Baalu had admitted on April 23 that he had "put in a word" with Petroleum Ministry to allow supply of gas to companies owned by his sons.
