Describing as "insensitive" the Congress-led UPA government, BJP national vice president Purshottam Rupala Saturday said the party would intensify its agitation across Gujarat against rise in prices of petroleum products.
"All they (Congress) could say that price rise was necessary for economic growth," Rupala said while launching a state-wide agitation here.
"The lame argument for increasing petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices and that too when the inflation is in double figures shows the insensitivity of Congress-led UPA government towards problems of common man," he said.
"Today we began our statewide agitation, but if needed we would also intensify it," he added.
Gujarat BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja said "the rise in fuel prices would ultimately trigger rise in cost of all essential commodities making living for a common man all the more difficult."
Jadeja said BJP members organised rallies and public programmes at all district headquarters to protest the hike.
Similar programmes would be held during next two days in each taluka of the state, he added.
