In order to please women ahead of the polls, the BJP has come up with a mobile application — Raksha — that promises help to women in times of crisis. The application, conceived by party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi, comes with the facility to raise alarm and alert near and dear ones in times of crisis.

“The application provides information about your location to your near and dear ones just at the press of a button. The selected contacts, friends and family members, can see your location and you can even ask them to show theirs. A distress signal, just by pressing a single key, sends out a loud buzzer to your near and dear ones,” Lekhi said.

Even if the Rakhsa app is switched off and isn’t running, pressing the volume key for three seconds alerts the chosen contacts. “Your location is sent to them on a map which sends them your exact whereabouts,” Lekhi said.

Salient features of the Raksha app include send location without switching on the Raksha app by the press of a key, creating a group of trusted people who need to be alerted when required, map view for easy navigation.
