BJYM demands Ashwin?s arrest

india Updated: Nov 21, 2006 18:09 IST

THE BJYM today staged a demonstration at the SP office demanding the arrest of Congress MLA Ashwin Joshi, who is an accused under Section 307 (attempt to murder) in two cases.

The BJYM demonstrators led by City president Ajit Raghuvangshi and general secretary Sumit Mishra demanding Joshi’s arrest and labelled him as a criminal who thrived on intimidation.

The demonstration should be seen as retaliation by the saffron brigade for an agitation staged by the Congress on November 17, demanding the arrest of BJP leader Jagdish Dhaneria.

The BJP leader’s arrest was being demanded in connection with the suicide of Sunita Dhaneria, who was the daughter-in-law of his brother.  In her dying declaration, Sunita had said that her husband, her father-in-law, mother-in-law and Jagdish Dhaneria were responsible for her death.

The Congressmen had also demanded the resignation of Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah for allegedly giving protection to Dhaneria.

Giving teeth to today’s agitation were City BJP president Ramesh Mendola, senior BJP leader Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, Satyanarayan Sattan, Gopi Krishna Nema, Sudharshan Gupta, MLA Usha Thakur, MLA Laxman Singh Gaur, corporator Chandu Shinde, Lal Bahadur Verma and Rajesh Sonkar among others.
