The Bharatiya Janata Pary Yuva Morcha (BJYM) here on Friday accused a Congress leader of coming up with an illegal construction on a piece of land that was acquired by bending rules.
BJYM workers protested near the municipal corporation (MC) office here and alleged that Congress leader Bharampal Rana had got land in MC Colony, a prime location of the town, allotted on lease in the name of his wife for Rs 2 a feet. They alleged that now Rana was coming up with a construction on the piece of land without getting the building plan approved.
Demanding a probe into the transfer of land to an individual in MC Colony, they demanded action against officers responsible.
Flaying the administration, MLA Anil Vij said the construction was stopped when he had raised the issue with deputy commissioner in June. "The building was sealed. Two MC employees were also suspended," Vij said.
Accusing the administration of dilly-dallying the probe, Vij claimed that construction had resumed despite the building being sealed by the government. "The authorities are shielding the land mafia," he said. BJYM leaders claimed that the agitation would be intensified if the illegal construction was not demolished. Rana could not be contacted for comment.
