An alleged blast conspirator on Tuesday got into a brawl with a police constable.

Ehetheshyam Siddiqui, a conspirator who allegedly also planted a bomb on a train, which went off at Mira Road station on July 11, 2006, got into a scuffle with constable Madan Rane of the local arms division. Rane was escorting him to the court on Tuesday.

According to eyewitnesses and policemen on duty outside the court of Special MCOCA Judge Vinay Joshi, the 13 accused were produced in court for their remand. However, when the court proceedings were over the police wanted to rush Siddiqui out to the Arthur Road jail. He protested and got into a verbal spat with constable Rane and then allegedly slapped him. Other police constables then tried to stop him from assaulting Rane.

Both Siddiqui and Rane, who sustained minor injuries on the face, were then rushed to the St George Hospital for a medical examination. Later a police complaint was lodged against him at the Colaba police station under section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), the police said.
