Blast toll 7: Residents block road

Two more bodies recovered

WITH THE recovery of two more bodies on Tuesday, the toll in the Bibipur firecracker explosion shot up to seven.

In the aftermath of the recovery of bodies, the people put up a road blockade for several hours, demanding compensation from the State Government for the kin of those lost their lives in the incident.

The police registered a case against Rakesh Valmiki and launched a door-to-door search operation in the village with Indian Air Force (IAF)  personnel. Vishnu, father of Akash, one of the victims of the explosion, filed a case against Rakesh and his son Mukesh.

There were reports that more explosives might have been been stockpiled in the houses of the  village.

The Valimikis were involved in making and stock piling of fire crackers.

The bodies of two-year old Akash and Vinod were pulled out of the debris.

Demanding compensation for the kin of the victims, the angry residents of the area put bodies in middle of the road and blocked the traffic.

Senior police officers, including Circle Officer  Kotwali, Rakesh Jolly and City Magistrate Nirbhay Dass rushed to the explosion site.

Meanwhile, agitating people demanded a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for families of all the victims of the blast.

Later, the district adminitration officials arranged Rs 10,000 for cremation of the blast victims.
