THE YEARLONG silver jubilee celebrations of Bhopal Malayalee Association (BMA) started at the BMA House in presence of a large number of members and well-wishers on the New Year day.

BMA presidentG M Pillai presided over the function and in his presidential speech emphasised the need of educating children in their mother tongue and cultural habits of Kerala. BMA general secretary C P Sunil welcomed the gathering and in his speech strongly criticised the ‘brutal assassination’ of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussain. He said it showed the act of imperialistic forces dominating the developing and under-developed countries.

Various cultural events were also held on the day. BMA organising secretary V C Madhu proposed the vote of thanks and the function ended at 10 pm. Prominent Malayalees of Bhopal also addressed the gathering and appreciated the activities of BMA.

On January 20, at 7 pm, famous Malayalam film actor Jishnu will inaugurate BMA’s cultural programmes at CPRI Community Hall. On this occasion various Kerala art forms will be staged. V C Madhu said the BMA is going to release a monthly newsletter ‘Bhopal Malayalee’ which will reach all BMA members at their doorsteps free of cost.
The newsletter will cover activities of Bhopal Malayalees.
