THE BHOPAL Municipal Corporation has issued notices to the owners of about 190 houses that are hampering the flow of Patra Nullah at different places from Mahamai Ka Bagh to Pushpa Nagar. Of these, the BMC has told 119 house owners to vacate the houses immediately.
According to information, the BMC has issued notices to these house owners in order to widen Patra Nullah, which wreaked havoc during recent rains.
Most of these residents crowded the BMC’s building permission office to seek some relief. Besides 119, the BMC has also told 80 building owners to produce documents related to the ownership and building permission. The widening of the thickly populated areas around Patra Nullah is going to start soon for the channelisation.
The BMC has taken up the work of channelisation under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. The widening work of Patra Nullah outside the City areas including Semra, Karariya, Kolua and Bhanpura is already in progress. Besides, the BMC is also widening the nullahs in new City areas.
