Norway’s Edvald Boasson-Hagen won the 179-km 17th stage of the Tour de France from Gap on Wednesday.

Norway’s Edvald Boasson-Hagen won the 179-km 17th stage of the Tour de France from Gap on Wednesday.

Dutchman Bauke Mollema was second and France's Sandy Casar was third.

French rider Thomas Voeckler of the Europcar team retained the race leader's yellow jersey .

In the descent, three-time Tour de France winner Contador took the lead with compatriot Samuel Sanchez but the pair were caught by their leading rivals Cadel Evans and brothers Andy and Frank Schleck.
