Usain Bolt may well be the richest athlete after the deal but he has some catching up to do when it comes to top sportspersons and their contracts with sportswear giants.
In 2008, Nike had inked a 10-year extension deal with tennis ace Roger Federer. Sports Business Journal estimated the deal to be about $13 million a year. Spanish paper Marca reported in February 2010 that Nike were signing a deal with Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo worth almost $37m for four years.
In 1996, Tiger Woods had signed a 5-year deal with Nike worth $40m.
