A BOMB hoax delayed the Mumbai-bound Avantika Express for over two hours on Monday evening at Karcha village between Dewas and Ujjain. The train was thoroughly searched by police teams from Ujjain and Dewas and the RPF dog squad. However, nothing suspicious was found and the train finally left at 7.05 pm.
According to reports, Indore police control room received an anonymous call in the evening that a bomb had been placed in the train. As the train had already left Indore station, Dewas police were contacted and asked to halt and check the train at Dewas station.
WR PRO Nitin David told Hindustan Times that Dewas police conveyed a message to the stationmaster at around 5 pm to halt Avantika Express. However, the train had by that time also left Dewas station and was finally stopped at Karcha.
The train, packed to capacity, remained stranded at Karcha while a thorough search was conducted in each compartment. However, nothing suspicious was found and after the nearly two-hour intensive checking, the train was given the green signal for onward journey, he said. Meanwhile, Indore police are trying to trace the anonymous caller.
