Bombay High Court on Monday admitted a petition filed by Sujata Nikhalje, wife of underworld don Chota Rajan seeking contempt proceeding against a police officer for violating the Apex Court guidelines at the time of her arrest under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

A division bench comprising Justices DG Deshpande and SA Bobde, while admitting the petition, directed the police to file an affidavit within the time of four weeks and adjourned the hearing.

Advocate Satish Maneshinde during the day submitted that the Human Rights Commission too had directed the Maharashtra Government to initiate action against the police officer for the violation of the Apex Court guidelines.

Sujata had been arrested for her alleged links with the members of the Chota Rajan gang and for managing Rajan's affairs in Mumbai.
