The Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister of State for Home Amit Shah should be booked under Section 302 of IPC in connection with the fake encounter, involving Sohrabbuddin Sheikh, demanded the Union Textile Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela.
The Union minister, who was in Nagpur to attend a function, said that the chief minister and the Home minister had hatched a conspiracy of the fake encounter at the residence of chief minister and later the job was entrusted to senior IPS officer DG Vanzara.
Sheikh was reportedly gunned down on November 26, 2005 after being branded a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist by Gujarat police. They had claimed that Sheikh was plotting to kill Gujarat Chief Minister Modi to avenge the death of Muslims in the Gujarat riots in 2002.
"Vanzara is a small fish, the real culprits are Modi and Shah," he said and insisted that inquiry should be initiated in that direction.
Vaghela said that it was not possible to have such a crime involving IPS officers and three states without the knowledge and consent of the chief minister and the Home minister.
