Highlight Story

A group of bootleggers and villagers attacked a team of police and excise officials who were on a raid in Atrauli village in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday night. Circle officer Amit Kumar Nagar and an excise official were injured.

Later, two bootleggers were arrested and 10 boxes of liquor seized. The crackdown on bootlegging is seen as a reaction of the Durga Shakti Nagpal case, where the state government was criticised for patronising the sand mafia and initiating action against an honest officer.
