Boy dies during immersion

A TEENAGER who had gone to Hathaikheda Dam for immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesh got drowned on Wednesday evening. According to information, Kashi Ram, 16, a resident of Kokta, had gone to the dam in Bilkhiria along with youths of his locality.

The dam was filled to the brim and accidentally the youth slipped into the water. Another youth who had fallen in water with him was saved. The group tried to save Kashi Ram but in vain.

In another incident, a man committed suicide by throwing self ahead of an approaching train. The deceased was identified as Ramesh, 40, a resident of Marwari Road. It is not immediately known what prompted him to end his life.

Also, the body of a newborn child was found in Jehangirabad on Wednesday. The child, a girl, was barely a day old and was found in the nullah of Pul Patra.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem and efforts are on to identify the parents who threw the baby. The Jehangirabad police have registered a case in this regard.
