india Updated: Oct 22, 2006 20:46 IST

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was killed and another injured in a collision between two trucks in Sukhi Sevaniya area in the wee hours of Friday.

According to Sukhi Sevaniya police, Rais Miyan of Raisen along with his family was coming towards Bhopal in his truck (MP 04 K 3465) for Id shopping. However, one of the truck’s tyres got punctured at about 2.30 am near the Amoni triangle on Sukhi Sevaniya road.

As it was very late in the night, Rais Miyan decided to park the vehicle on the roadside and rest at the spot till morning. His nephew, Azeem (16) and son Gulfam (17) went to the back of the truck and slept.

After about half an hour, another truck (MP 06 E 1612) coming from behind, rammed into Rais Miyan’s stationary truck. The impact was very strong and the back portion of the truck was severely damaged.

Azeem and Gulfam sustained serious injuries even as the collision forced the stationary vehicle forward on the road with a jerk. After traveling a little distance, Rais Miyan’s truck overturned and fell on the side of the road resulting in further injuries to some other family members.

Critically injured Azeem and Gulfam were rushed to a hospital but Azeem succumbed to his wounds on the way.
