A FOUR-YEAR-old boy who was travelling with his mother in a mini bus was killed after he fell through the bus when the metal sheet floor suddenly gave in.
The child was caught under the rear wheels of the bus after he fell through the opening of the rusty floor sheet. He died on the spot.
The incident occurred near Lalghati late on Thursday evening. Police said Adarsh, son of Suresh Kumar, a resident of Bamhori (Raisen) was travelling in the bus along with his mother, Poonam.
The child had come to Bhopal to meet his grandfather. Poonam’s parents live here at Barela near Lalghati. The mother was sitting on the rear seat inside the bus while the child stood near her. On a sudden jerk the floor of the mini bus that had apparently deteriorated and was rusted, suddenly gave way. The child who was standing on the sheet fell right through the bus.
The shell-shocked mother and the other passengers who were witness to the scene got the mini bus stopped. The child had come under the rear wheels and died on the spot itself.
As the passengers got down and the bus emptied, the driver escaped the spot with the bus. Eyewitnesses said that the sheet was already crumbling and part of it collapsed with the jerk, taking the child down.
The bus was on its way from Nadra Bus Stand to Halalpura when the mishap occurred. The Koh-e-Fiza police have registered a case against the driver.
