The lawyers in Coimbatore, who continued their boycott of court proceedings for the sixth day on Wednesday, over the alleged assault on a lawyer by a head constable, would decide their future course of action, at the general body of the Coimbatore Bar Association scheduled for July 9.

The advocates started boycott of the court proceedings on June 30, demanding immediate arrest of a head constable, who had allegedly assaulted a lawyer.

Talks to find a solution to the issue at the Magistrate and Judge level ended in failure since both police and lawyers stuck to their stand - police refusing to arrest the head constable and lawyers faulting police for deleting sec 506 (ii)(causing bleeding injuries with weapon) from FIR and releasing the head constable.
