NASSCOM has floated local BPO forums in metro cities, including Gurgaon with high concentration of call centers and BPOs to render support to the local administration in solving infrastructure-related problems.
The move aimed at sharing best practices between the administration and the BPO industry in key areas such as safety and security of working women, traffic management and others, the NASSCOM chief said.
The cities where these forums have come up include Noida, Bangalore,
Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and others.
NASSCOM chairman Som Mittal, who was in Gurgaon recently to participate in an interactive seminar organised by Genpact, told Hindustan Times that since the local administration and police lacked infrastructure in some of the metros, the local BPO forums would assist in certain areas such as road traffic management.
“In Bangalore, the Local BPO Forum has offered to assist the traffic police department in managing the traffic of the city in more efficient manner. In some of the metros, the police departments lack the required infrastructure and this is where we can offer to assist them on manpower front. The BPO forums also can come forward to share ideas on improving the infrastructure,” Mittal said.
"We have about 40 members in BPO Forum who have already held a meeting in Gurgaon. Next the Forum would have an interactive session with the local administration and police department to discuss local problems. This forum would also share ideas to make the life better in Gurgaon,” said Mittal.
The forums would also discuss issues such as safety and security for working women with police department along with other issues.
