BRAVEHEARTS ALWAYS take the plunge to save others. True to this philosophy, four teenaged members of a boatman’s family rescued a woman who had jumped into the Gomti from the Nishatganj Bridge on Monday evening.

The four teenagers, who live in hutments on the riverbank, dived into the river when they saw Pooja Yadav of Indira Nagar struggling  in the water.

They rescued her after a 15- minute battle against the currents.

Meanwhile, other boatmen reached the spot and brought Pooja ashore. She requested them not to inform the police.

On being informed by the boatmen, her brother rushed to the place and took her home.

Pooja said she decided to end her life following a tiff with family members in the morning. She walked to the bridge from her house and jumped into the river from near Smriti Vatika.

The police said they were not aware of the incident, as the boatmen did not inform them.
