Colourful shoes seem to be the flavour of the season. Be it in plastic, leather, rubber or cotton, what’s on your feet has to have some hint of brightness. And if you are wearing a vibrant wool legging or socks, that just adds to the whole look.
Designers like Manish Malhotra, Narendra Kumar and Rahul Reddy, for example, had models walk the ramp in last year’s fashion weeks in bright, colourful footwear. Designer Aastha Bahl who did a sporty collection says, “I used very bright cotton jersey legwarmers in acid green, yellow, pink, hot pink, pop turquoise, to be paired with coloured peep-toes or pumps.”
Label Lecoanet-Hemant (LH), known for playing around with chic bags in leather, took it to the next level with shoes done in plastic. Hemant Sagar of LH says, “These obviously are not meant to be worn on roads for entire day, but are party shoes. These are for Rs 3,500 onwards and are available only if anyone places an order with us.”
Arjun Saluja’s show at the LFW had male models donning orange and lime green round-toed shoes. He says, “I did a very couture-ish collection with an old-school London vibe, and this finesse I wanted to break with these funky shoes.” Delhi designer Rahul Reddy came up with knitted socks adorned with laces, that look like shoes. “I gave this twist to the simple socks by adding tied-up laces in eight colours.”
