Whether you are a music buff or not, a music station is a must-have in every youngster's room. However, don’t just stack the player and speakers in one corner. Plan its placement. Interior designer Monica Kamal says, “In order to let the music system function properly, it should be placed in a way that is has ample space. The area should not look clustered with other items around.”
Install the music system in a spare room or convert your living room into a music den. Most interior designers suggest placing the music system amid an informal setting, such as a study room, living room or bedroom. The informal setting creates a relaxed milieu, which is apt for leisure time with friends and family. To create a surround sound setting, station the player in the bedroom or the lounge. Place the speakers in strategic corners, which excludes areas such as the kitchen or the store. Preferably, the speakers should be placed in a lounge, bedroom or the dining room. This will let the music travel wherever you are partying or relaxing. Nitin Nagpal, of Voilà Home, says, "Ideally, music system should be connected to the entire house as music plays a very important part in our life."
Select your options
If setting up a music system is too cumbersome, is beyond your budget or there is no space, then opt for pocket-friendly and easy-to-use alternatives.
The best way is to have speakers of your choice installed in your room and plug in your iPod, mp3, music phone or laptop to them. You may go the old school way and buy a hassle-free and sleek stereo in funky designs that are available at most electronic stores. They are reasonably priced, will fit in your low-budget, are as handy as your iPod or mobile to be carried anywhere. What’s more? They emit louder sounds.
