British Foreign Secretary David Miliband on Wednesday arrived in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Amethi constituency to get a first hand account of rural development activities there.
The two leaders, who landed here this afternoon, headed straight for the National Aviation Academy in Fursatganj. They are scheduled to interact with aspiring pilots and faculty members.
During their two-day visit to Amethi, Miliband and Rahul will tour villages and interact with farmers and school children, besides attending a function at Munshiganj Eye Hospital, party sources said.
They are also scheduled to visit a bulk milk chilling facility at Naharkothi village in Fursatganj where they will meet dairy farmers and their families.
They will then visit Narayanpur and Purepande villages, where they will hold interactive sessions with students attending special English and Hindi classes.
The two leaders would also take stock of development works at Ashidpir village in Gauriganj.
Miliband had expressed his desire to see rural development activities in India during an earlier meeting with Rahul in the United Kingdom.
Rahul had invited him to visit his constituency where several schemes pertaining to cooperative, self-help groups and health have been launched in recent years, the sources said.
