Broadcasting regulation bill: Discussion held

india Updated: Aug 16, 2006 17:58 IST

The government on Wednesday held discussions with the heads of Indian media and entertainment companies to seek their inputs on the controversial broadcasting regulation bill.

Information and Broadcasting Minister PR Dasmunsi and Secretary SK Arora led the government side as the industry saw representation from independent media and entertainment houses as well as their associations.

The industry raised apprehensions on a variety of provisions in the proposed regulation, including cross media restriction, composition of broadcast regulator and some of the other 'restitive clauses'.

Those representing the industry included the India Media Group (IMG), Indian Broadcasting Foundation and a number of editors and enterpreneurs from the industry.
