TWO BROTHERS were attacked and seriously injured by two culprits over a dispute regarding drinking water in Nishatpura area.
According to information, the victims Bharat Singh (36) and Sumer Singh (26) are brothers and work as cattle breeders and sellers. They had taken some animals to sell at the weekly market in the area on Monday night.
When they were having dinner after finishing work, the two culprits Kala Irani and Kaliya Irani, reached the spot and started washing their hands and faces with the water the brothers had kept for drinking.
When the brothers objected to that, both culprits abused them and a heated argument ensued. Suddenly, the assailants picked up wooden sticks from the spot and started thrashing the victims. Bharat Singh sustained critical head injuries while Sumer was also injured. Both brothers were admitted to the People’s Hospital while police were also informed.
Police have arrested Kala Irani while the other accused is still absconding. Meanwhile, Bharat Singh was to undergo surgery and he was stated to be in a life-threatening condition at the time this report was filed.
Rape accused arrested
GOVINDPURA POLICE arrested a youth accused of raping a woman over the past four years. According to police, the 41-year-old victim lives with her husband and children in a shanty in Jain Nagar slums and runs a tea stall in the area. The accused, Premnarayan, 31, a resident of of Gopal Nagar in Piplani, works as a construction labourer and used to frequent her tea stall for many years.
Over time he got acquainted with the victim and first he lured her into getting physically involved and subsequently started threatening and blackmailing her for illicit relations with him.
However, the victim finally got fed up with the threats and blackmailing and lodged a complaint against Premnarayan today. Acting on her complaint, police arrested Premnarayan and booked him for rape under the Section 376. Further investigations are on.
Body found near 6 No. bus stop
Habibganj Police recovered the body of a youth from near the 6 number bus stop this afternoon. After initial investigations, doctors did not rule out the possibility of the youth’s death due to heat stroke. However, the exact cause of death would be known only after the detailed postmortem report. Someone informed the police about the body lying on the roadside and police reached the spot.
The body was recovered and sent to the hospital for postmortem. After initial identification, the deceased has been identified as a resident of Kainchi Chola area who was known by the nickname of Pundit (30). Police recovered some drugs and a ‘chilam’ from his trouser pockets indicating the possibility of him being a drug addict.
