BSF jawan injured in IED blast in Udhampur

The constable, identified as Sanatan Roy, was evacuated by helicopter and admitted to Army hospital at Udhampur.

A Border Security Force jawan was injured when terrorists triggered an improvised explosive device in Dhamkund-Gool area of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening, official sources said in Jammu on Saturday.

On receiving information about the body of one civilian, Shakeel Ahmed, lying in front of his house at Janwari in Dhamkund-Gool, a BSF party left from Bijwani to recover the body on Friday, they said.

The body was brought to the BSF post at Dhamkund.

Later, as BSF troops launched an operation in the area, terrorists exploded an IED planted on Janwari-Bijwani road at around 18:30 hours, injuring a BSF constable and damaging a security vehicle.

The constable, identified as Sanatan Roy, was evacuated by helicopter and admitted to Army hospital at Udhampur.

Search operation to track the terrorists in the area was continuing, the sources said.
