A BSF jawan hailing from West Bengal was killed when his gun went off accidentally at a border outpost in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A BSF jawan hailing from West Bengal was killed when his gun went off accidentally at a border outpost in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, a BSF spokesman said on Wednesday.

A loaded gun belonging to A R N Sawanta, Head Constable of 91 Battalion, who was posted at Chamliyal along the international border in Samba district went off after it fell on the ground on Tuesday night.

Sawanta was hit by a bullet and died on the spot, the spokesman said, adding his body will be sent to his native place in West Bangal.
