Sunil Kashyap (35), brother-in-law of Member of Parliament (MP) Narendra Kumar Kashyap, was stabbed to death in his (Sunil’s) D-21 house in Udhyog Vihar in Noida sector 82 on Tuesday evening. Narendra is Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP from Rajya Sabha.
The MP’s nephew, Vikki, who works at the Greater Noida authority as a class IV employee, has been arrested for the murder. Family feud is said to be the reason behind the murder.
Sunil was married to the MP’s sister, Poonam Kashyap. She works with the Noida authority as a junior assistant. Poonam has registered a case of murder with the Noida phase II police station. The murder instantly triggered sensation in the area.
Police said Vikki, who lives in Greater Noida, reached D-21 at 2 pm, when Sunil and his two minor children were at home. “Poonam was at work when the murder took place. After a heated exchange, caused possibly by some family feud, Vikki locked the children in a room and stabbed Sunil to death,” said a police officer.
When Poonam reached home, she found her husband’s body lying in a pool of blood. The two children were in a state of shock but managed to narrate to her how Vikki came home, locked them and killed their father with a knife. Vikki also possibly tried to harm the children, as he allegedly turned on the cooking gas cylinder. Luckily, there was no fire reported at the house.
As Poonam reported the matter to the police, a huge crowd gathered outside the house. On getting information, Noida BSP MLA Satveer Gurjar also reached the spot and confirmed that the victim was, indeed, brother-in-law of MP Narendra Kashyap. Narendra lives in Ghaziabad.
“The body has been sent for autopsy. We’re questioning Vikki to ascertain the reason behind the murder. Sunil was killed between 2 pm and 6 pm. Family feud may be the reason,” said a police officer. “The deceased was jobless and depended on his wife’s income. “Sunil had wounds on his neck. His throat was slit,” he said.
