Charging Trinamool Congress with corruption and inefficiency in running Panchayats under its control, West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Saturday alleged the party was more interested in unleashing violence than working for the people.
"I will like to urge those who had voted for Trinamool Congress in Panchayat elections to take note of its misdeeds in the local bodies which are plagued by rampant corruption particularly in South 24-Parganas district," Bhattacharjee told a rally in Dhola.
He said the Left Front government had introduced the Panchayat system in the state and the poor, landless farmers and villagers had been given 'pattas' (ownership) of lands since 1977.
The Chief Minister urged the villagers not to allow the Trinamool to destroy the Panchayat system and force the party to work.
"The Trinamool Congress is hell bent on creating total lawlessness all over the state and undoing all efforts by the state government to develop industry and generate jobs," he said.
