DELHI JAMA Masjid Imam Ahmad Bukhari on Monday assailed vice-chairman of All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Dr Kalbe Sadiq for criticising the formation of UP United Democratic Front (UPUDF).
Dr Sadiq, reacting to formation of the UPUDF and People’s Democratic Front (PDF) led by Maulana Kalbe Jawad, said that it was ‘hasty decision’.
Dr Sadiq said that the two fronts would not benefit Muslims. Refusing to comment on the issue, Kalbe Jawad, who is the nephew of Dr Sadiq, said that he had so far not discussed PDF issue with Dr Sadiq. “Let me talk to him first,” Jawad told HT. However, Bukhari said that Dr Sadiq was oblivious of the ground realities.
While Dr Sadiq’s comment could be music to the ears of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, who recently met AIMPLB chief Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadvi to apprise him of the welfare measures taken for the community, Bukhari said that Dr Sadiq who most of the time remained out of the country, was not aware of conditions of Muslims. Bukhari said that the formation of the UPUDF was not a ‘hasty’ decision. Rather, the decision was taken after testing all the political parties in the country.
He said that Dr Sadiq should tell the community about contribution of all political parties.
Bukhari said that Dr Sadiq made the statement at the behest of some people who had been trying to harm the UDF. The Imam said AIMPLB did not have the right to interfere in political matters.
