THE TT Nagar police have succeeded in busting a five-member gang of thieves and recovered two rifles and 45 cartridges, stolen by them from a forest department office in Bhopal in April this year and two stolen motorcycles.
Bhopal SP A K Singh told reporters here on Monday that a police team had been constituted to nab the gang active in the area. The team managed to nab a history sheeter of the T T Nagar police station area, Shankar Sarole of Sheetla Nagar, from New Market.
He is being interrogated, he said. Shankar first tried to mislead the police but confessed on intense interrogation to have stolen two rifles from the forest office located the 228-quarter area. At his instance, police arrested his accomplices Rohit Pal, Madan Mohan, Ramprakash alias Bablu and Arif.
The culprits had sold off one of the rifles for Rs 12000 to Arif while they had hid the other in a vacant government house. Police have recovered both rifles and 45 cartridges. Two stolen motorcycles have also been recovered from the gang and police hope to get clues about several other thefts committed by the gang in the past.
