A burglar rubbed down a Tokyo woman's shoulders and chatted to her for hours  before making off with thousands of her dollars, news reports said on Friday.

The 29-year-old South Korean man allegedly taped up the woman's wrists and ankles before massaging her and chatting to her about computers, the Asahi Shimbun said.

He massaged her shoulders and chatted to her for four hours until morning when her bank's ATM opened, allowing him steal her money, the newspaper's evening edition said.

The man was arrested for stealing nearly 1.2 million yen (10,800 dollars) either from her bank account or in cash from her apartment in Shibuya, a police spokesman said.

The man also reportedly mailed the victim her bank card back the next day just as he had promised.

Police are probing whether the alleged burglar is responsible for several similar cases reported in Tokyo, Kyodo News said.
