Two persons were killed and three were missing and feared dead when a Himachal Pradesh roadways bus plunged into a rain-swollen river today at Chopal on Shimla-Kupwai road, 140-km from Shimla.

Two bodies had been fished out from the river while 27 passengers had been rescued, SSP Shimla R M Sharma told reporters here.

Three people were missing and were believed to have been swept away by strong currents of the water, he said.

The conductor of the HP Road Transport Corporation bus Naveen Kumar, who survived the crash, told police the bus was carrying 32 passengers when it rolled down into the river, the SSP said.

Shimla Deputy Commissioner J S Rana said two persons died in the accident and three were missing and presumed dead.
