india Updated: Aug 10, 2006 01:35 IST

TRANSPORT MINISTER Naresh Agarwal has indicated that there might be a 10 per cent to 20 per cent reduction in bus fares after an appraisal of the economic inputs.

The minister was speaking after dedicating a bus station to the people in Hardoi. The bus station has been constructed on a 2.5-acre plot at a cost of Rs 3.8 crore. It is equipped with all modern facilities.  He said the main objective of the Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation was not to earn a profit, but provide passengers with good service.

He said the State Government had allocated Rs 57 crore to the Roadways to improve facilities.
