An immigrant from Andhra Pradesh running a liquor store in the state of Ohio in United States was shot dead by unidentified persons inside his shop early Sunday, according to family sources here.

Goli Vekat Reddy (47), who hails from Karimnagar in Andhra Pradesh and was doing business in US for 12 years, was found dead inside his store, Central Liquors, located in Colerain Township, a small town with a population of some 60,000.
Hamilton County Sheriff's chief Deputy Sean Donovan was quoted by cincinnati.com as saying that Reddy had been shot, but he did not provide any other specifics about the deceased’s injuries.
The police reached the store at 1.29 am after his wife, Kavitha raised an alarm. Kavitha who is a software engineer tried to contact her husband on the mobile after he did not reach home at the usual time. But there was no response from him. After waiting till midnight, she alerted some of their friends and they reached the store and found Venkat Reddy in a pool of blood.
Police said they had opened a homicide investigation. A spokesman of Colerain Township police department told PTI that no arrest had been made so far.
Meanwhile the family is heart broken. "He was very nice man and had excellent relation with locals," said his brother-in-law Shyam sundar Reddy, an advocate in Karimnagar town. He and his wife have requested the US consulate to issue them a visa on urgent basis so that they can go to USA and get the body for cremation at their native place.
